Old harpoon beer logo12/18/2023 “We’ve created some of the craziest beers we could think of and put 'em in a can. This push towards creativity and innovation was a big moment for the folks at Fort Worth’s Martin House Brewing Company. The future for the category is going to be lighter-lighter calories, lighter ABV, lighter styles and even consumer expectations around a lighter lift when it comes to purchasing and enjoying their next beverage.” She says, “these shifts are due in large part to the convergence of macro consumer trends-a rise in expectations around convenience that has led to the proliferation of canned beverages across other categories, to the sober curious movement and the general rise in health consciousness that has led to increases in categories such as light lager, stouts, hard seltzer, and non-alcoholic beers. While hard seltzer is on everyone's mind (and new product roadmap), we've also seen increases across a number of other alternatives-hard lemonades, hard kombuchas and teas and of course, RTDs.” Consumers are seeking out alternatives to the mainstays of the last decade, ones that are often much lighter in calories and ABV. “The story of the beer, flavored malt beverage and cider category this past year has been one of disruption and diversification. Liz Paquette, the head of consumer insights at Drizly, notes these purchasing shifts are reflected in sales. As a small brewery, we love trying something new each week.” That said, he admits, “The seltzer trend continues to be strong, and smaller breweries are still having their moment because they’re better positioned to offer new and exciting choices for their regular customers. “Especially since that tends to be a concoction wineries and distilleries are better equipped to make than breweries.” “I never saw the seltzer train coming,” says Michael Harper, head brewer at Funky Picnic Brewery in Fort Worth. Continuing this mentality, the hard seltzer category thrived over 2020. “Lower alcohol beers began to gain market share last year as people steadied their consumption desire with effect desire,” says Valenta. Outside of IPAs, brewers note that lower-alcohol styles continue to trend upwards. “As far as the product itself, IPAs aren't going away anytime soon.” Michael Moeller of the Louisville Ale Trail corroborates this. Speaking of IPAs, that segment, which had been expanding exponentially over the past several years, continued its impressive growth during the last year.” Our flagship Harpoon IPA has enjoyed its strongest off-premise sales trends in the last five years. On the flipside, Harpoon Brewery co-founder Dan Kenary says, “From a consumer standpoint, we’ve seen a definite shift back to tried-and-true brands during the pandemic. Having diverse styles on tap is the best way for people to learn.” “We're strong advocates of beer education and that breweries should take that responsibility seriously. “Brewers know that ‘ haze pays,’ but I’m seeing breweries diversifying their tap menus with lagers, dunkels and Belgians!” says Apollon, Jr. While beermakers adapted to shifting production processes, they were also pushed to rethink their offerings. “We had to get creative by doing things like splitting brews into smaller tanks and doing different dry hop additions or adding different fruits to them to work through a variety of R&D projects without making too much liquid. “The capacity restrictions on our taprooms have also made research and development a bit more complicated-we just can’t brew to the volume and velocity that we’re used to or we’d end up having to dump a lot of out-of-date beer before it gets consumed,” says Jeremy Kosmicki, the brewmaster for Founders Brewing Company. Outside of sourcing, the change in draught demand pushed brewers to rework and rethink their brewing process. “Because of this shift, we saw more breweries move into packaging and new breweries enter the off-premise market that hadn’t previously packaged, increasing competition on the shelf.” Valenta notes that with consumers at home, draught demand was depleted.

Carbon copy cloner vs disk earrior12/18/2023 Note that audio streaming games need to be aligned 32k. Alternatively use DMToolbox or the latest version of DiscEX with the -c command on your verified 1:1 disc image. The major advantage of CISO is that it removes empty blocks while maintaining the original file offsets, unlike shrunken ISOs that sometimes break some games expect certain files to be located at an exact location on disc. Shrunk - Using Nintendont 4.428 or newer is recommended to use cISO format converted with Wit (Wiimms ISO Tool). If you have not enabled Memory Card Emulation, leave the field blank. For partially working games, you can enter " Issues". Enter " Yes" for working, or " No" for not working. Keep in mind that not all games will work with this patching. MCEmu (Memory Card Emulation) - This is the game save redirection feature which uses the front SD instead of a GameCube memory card. Do not for example, add a new title to the list as 'Doesn't Work' having only tested the game with one of these settings enabled, as it's probable the game works flawlessly without it. Options The enhancements of Memory Card Emulation, Widescreen Patch, Progressive Patch, DiscEX compression and GCReEx (fst) are to be considered optional, and should only be tested after the game has been confirmed to work without these features. Make sure to include the problem in the notes if the game fails to boot (black screen, green screen, freezing, etc) Should you happen to find that an up to date Nintendont breaks a game that is listed here as working with an older revision, mention the earlier compatible revision under Notes. Also note that newer release versions of Nintendont always take priority. Titles that work but have any missing audio due to disc streaming are to be entered as Works with notes of audio streaming. Mark the game as " Doesn't work" if it freezes at the same point every time or fails to boot at all. Chipping and putting12/18/2023 I have my feet about 5-7 inches apart and I like to play the ball center or back of center for the most part. He’s got one of the best short games in the world, so he may be on to something. I saw an article with Patrick Reed and he is square to his target line. I played with an open stance for years, but I’ve tried lining up square recently. Play around with both and use what’s comfortable. Set up slightly open or square to your target line. You will need to measure it for yourself. To do this, I grip down on my wedge about 2 inches for greater control. I extend my arms at address with the leading edge of my wedge lightly touching the ground so I can maintain a consistent radius during my stroke. I use the same exact chipping motion, but get more height. However, there are some situations where it may make more sense to use my 60-degree wedge when playing faster greens. I play it from any lie including bunkers. Plus, I like the versatility of my 56-degree wedge. So, I’m comfortable using my 56-degree sand wedge. The courses in my area have slower greens generally. Club selection will depend on the types of courses you play. Faster greens may require you to use height for stopping power in addition to spin. So, you may consider using your 56-degree or 60-degree wedge. You can chip well using the leading edge with any club from pitching wedge to lob wedge. Relatively easy to adjust the height and carry of the ball. Can learn the basic technique quickly (especially when using your putting stroke).Chipping with the leading edge of your wedge Advantage(s) I use the bounce technique for the most part, but there are some lies or situations that I prefer to use the leading edge technique. The basic idea is to strike the ball with a descending blow and brush the grass with the leading edge of your wedge on the target side of the ball. It’s a simple concept, whether you use your putting stroke (putt with loft) like Raymond Floyd or use the hinge-and-hold method taught by Phil Mickelson. I’ve been a leading edge guy my whole life. There are two basic chipping techniques with your wedge (either Sand or Lob) Not easy to predict spin when using wedges.

Since then, more than 33 million winning tickets have been sold, including 68 players who took home $1 million or more, the lottery added. The last jackpot was won at $502 million on October 14, when there were two winning tickets from California and Florida, the Mega Millions said. Top rated anki spanish flashcards12/18/2023 The other two I picked up quickly but with a lot of effort, as an autodidact. I currently speak four languages at either native or C2 level (I took the official tests, that was actually fun), but at the age of 48 I only spoke two. I added this section after three years of copious interaction with enthusiastic users in order to give any curious readers a sense of where I'm coming from language-wise. If you're really raring to go, then start out by adding just the first seven cards, which are for orientation:Ĭlick or long-press deck name → Custom Study → Increase today's new card limit → 7īut you're sticking around for the manual, right? ✽ The inspiration for this deck was my Ultimate Italian Conjugation deck ✽ Bonus: table of irregular Spanish past participles ✽ You can discuss this deck on Reddit ( Anki, Spanish or learnspanish) (or leave a comment at the bottom) ✽ To use it, you need to install either Ankidroid (Android), Anki Desktop (Windows | Mac | Linux), or AnkiMobile (iOS) But really, there's a lot more to getting the most out of it, so read all of this or be a loser.īefore we start, let me tell you where things are: If nothing else, read the sections about verbal and visual cues, and the guide to pace the study. You're going to be spending months in it: you might as well spend twenty minutes to understand how to use it. In my opinion, this manual is a Must-Read to get the most out of the deck. Of course 72 verbs is only a tiny fraction of Spanish verbs (I counted 11,441 in the DLE, the most important dictionary of the Spanish language) but you'll know all the patterns both for regular and for irregular verbs, which means you'll be able to conjugate new verbs without too much thought. Bear in mind that long before you finish the deck you'll already know most of Spanish conjugation as the last twenty verbs or so are for some much less frequent patterns - sometimes unique to a single, little-used verb. With this deck you'll learn to conjugate in all the tenses and you'll know seventy-two verbs inside out. This page is a brief manual to explain the design of my Anki flashcards to learn the patterns of Spanish conjugation. This is a state-of-the-art deck powered by over 3,000 lines of code, and it's one of my gifts to language learners worldwide. With my free deck of Anki flashcards, you can learn pretty much all of Spanish conjugation patterns over eight months of short daily sessions. TL DR: learn to conjugate Spanish verbs in all tenses and all patterns (regular and irregular) in eight months with minimal daily study. New ETA end of November or early December. Entering the next floor requires you to have earned at least six Abyssal Stars from the previous floor, as well as having cleared all three of the previous floor's chambers. Currently, there are only two types of challenges - one in which the player needs to clear the chamber in a set amount of time, and another in which a Ley Line Monolith must have a specific amount of health. Off white out pen12/18/2023 Most important, neither mixed with the watercolor and turned pink as the Gelly Roll did. The Posca surface crackled – that was an unexpected result. Both are more opaque than the Gelly Roll, and the Sailor is the most opaque of the three. Next I made swatches of watercolor, waited for them to dry completely, and then scribbled over the swatches. They might have had better effects on other papers.) (The moral of the story is that I may have prematurely rejected some insufficiently opaque pens by using them only on one type of dark paper or another. It looks slightly less opaque than it does on either of the other black papers I tested. Just for fun, I also tried the Posca on the black cover of a Field Notes Lunacy notebook. It occasionally snagged on the paper’s tooth, causing the ink to splatter.Īs always, the kind of paper used with an ink can strongly influence its effect. The Strathmore Grayscale has a strong texture, which was a bit of a problem for the Posca’s porous tip. I think they are both slightly more opaque on the Stillman & Birn. The two papers are sized differently – Nova is a mixed-media paper that can withstand some liquid Strathmore is made for dry media – so the white inks appear subtly different. Both pens get brownie points for being non-stinky!įirst I tested the pens against the Gelly Roll on two kinds of black paper: Stillman & Birn’s Nova sketchbook and Strathmore Grayscale paper. Both should also be primed a bit on scrap paper first to avoid getting a blob of ink that hasn’t mixed properly. Both should be shaken vigorously before using (you can hear an agitator inside each). The Sailor has a metal sleeve around the tip like many technical pens. It can make varying line widths depending on the angle that the tip is held to the paper. The Uni Posca has a firm, porous bullet tip similar to some brush pens I’ve used. Two that I spotted recently are the Sailor Mini Correction Pen (1.0) and the Uni Posca Paint Marker (extra fine). Its opacity is so-so, but a larger problem is that gel ink is water-soluble, so if I use it over watercolor pencils or dried watercolor, it can activate the medium underneath, and they mix together. Lately I’ve been using a Sakura Gelly Roll. I’ve tried quite a few white pens, and many are either not opaque enough or not fine enough. These photos don’t communicate fine details like the glossiness of a tape, but if you’re a cream paper aficionado desperate to make an informed decision, read on.While urban sketching, I occasionally have need for an opaque white pen with a tip fine enough to make small highlights or write the lettering on a street sign. We also tested all tapes on our most popular cream papers. Plus Whiper Petit Correction Tape - Cream Kokuyo Dual Head Keshipita Correction Tape MAPKA, a resin composed of 51% paper, has a pleasant texture but increased susceptibility to ink stains. However, we found its tape to be the faintest whisper more green-toned than the MD tape and its applicator the tiniest bit more finicky. If you prefer a narrower tape, the Midori MAPKA is practically identical and offers a 5 mm tip size. However, its versatile tone and reliable application make it our favorite cream correction tape. The Midori MD Correction Tape is not perfectly opaque, and the case’s symmetrical design means you may need to peer closely at its tip before putting it to paper. However, fountain pen ink doesn’t bead up and create thinner lines over the MD tape, as happens on ink-resistant tapes. Under the points of fountain pen nibs, it can rip-mitigated somewhat by smoothing down the tape and applying gentle pressure with the pen tip. This tape, like all the tapes we tested, is not as perfectly compatible. Our cream papers are usually touted for their compatibility with fountain pens. After testing, we can say it not only goes well on MD paper but also blends into other popular cream-colored papers like Leuchtturm1917 Notebooks and the pages of the Hobonichi Weeks. The Midori MD Correction Tape is designed to coordinate with Midori MD paper. Will we ever see quake 512/18/2023 Some of the simplest questions about earthquakes remain hard to answer. And yet scientists still can't say when an earthquake will happen. Plate tectonics may be one of the signature triumphs of the human mind, geology's answer to biology's theory of evolution. A century later, we have a highly successful theory, called plate tectonics, that explains why 1906-type earthquakes happen-along with why continents drift, mountains rise, and volcanoes line the Pacific Rim. It's been a hundred years since the last big one in California, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, which helped give birth to modern earthquake science. Earthquake faults have a nasty way of combining patience with impulsiveness. You see right there a fundamental problem with earthquakes: They refuse to operate on human standard time. The players are worried about making the team. It's a hot summer day a few weeks before the start of the season. "In an earthquake," says Allen, "the entire field may liquefy." They'd just get knocked off their pins-tackled by a temblor.īut of course no one on that field is worried about an earthquake. Much of the stadium is built on soft ground, the kind that amplifies seismic waves. It hasn't spawned a major earthquake since 1868. He calls it "Earthquakes in Your Backyard." The name couldn't be more appropriate, because the Hayward is a particularly dangerous fault. They also "break." They "rupture." The creep happens in plain sight, but the breaking, the rupturing, the lurching-the earthquaking-will hit you blindside.Īllen teaches Berkeley's oldest course on earthquakes. What hubris to build a stadium on a fault!īut Allen points out the central problem: Faults don't just creep. At the rim of the stadium, a Berkeley professor named Richard Allen shows me the result of 80 years of creep: a four-inch (102-centimeter) jog in the concrete, inelegantly bandaged with a rusty metal plate. Scientists now know that the Hayward creeps-it inches along steadily, although millimeters along would be more accurate. Each half of the stadium could move independently, riding the shifting crust without breaking a sweat. So the architects gamely built the stadium in two halves, shaped sort of like a coffee bean, with a line, the fault, essentially splitting the structure. Earthquake science was still young, but the architects apparently realized that the Hayward is a fault, where two pieces of crust move past each other. It races downfield, barrels through the south end zone, and keeps going, careening down the street toward Oakland.īack in the 1920s, when architects drew up plans for a grand football stadium at California's flagship university, they refused to let a geologic imperfection stand in their way. One map shows it splitting the goal posts in the north end zone. Then the fault runs underneath the stadium. You can straddle the fault, one leg up the steps, one leg down. It passes under a theater and a couple of dormitories and kinks the concrete steps outside California Memorial Stadium. The Hayward Fault, a long and lethal crack in the Earth, slices along the base of the Berkeley Hills and directly through the University of California. |
